[Return to "Reception and Criticism" Overview]
At the dawn of the 20th century, eminent Oxfordian scholar A.C. Bradley held a series of seven lectures on Shakespeare's tragedies, which he later published, augmented by a series of alphabetised end notes. Of the seven lectures, two focused on "Hamlet" in particular, as did alphabetised notes A – H. They are reproduced here together with the series's first two letures, which deal with the underlying issues of the substance and construction of Shakespeare's tragedies, and which, for purposes of a fuller understanding, really should be read before proceeding to the specific discussion of "Hamlet."
